This reading was interesting to me as I used to love watching cartoons or reading comics when I was a kid as I’m sure many did or still do. The writer explains and puts into words how comics are an invitation to be part of a story and somehow become the main character. It makes me realise that every decision in terms of not only dialogue but also mostly in terms of visuals is thought meticulously in order to attract our attention to specific details. For example, I always thought that cartoon characters were simplified (less facial characteristics, same outfit all the time) was a way to keep it light and simple for kids mainly but it was in fact a way to attract a larger audience as it can reach anyone. It makes me think that simplifying or choosing to focus on specific details while still being able to identify what is being portrayed could actually be more difficult than doing a realistic representation.
